Searching for Kapwa Documentary Screening

The 1st Generation Mentorship Program (1st Gen) is excited to host a Searching for Kapwa documentary screening event. Filmmakers Larry D. Lariosa and Terrence Marcotte are scheduled to be in attendance and will offer a Q&A after the screening.

Inspired by the pre-colonial Filipino value kapwa, or “shared identity,” Searching for Kapwa follows the filmmaker’s quest to heal from a sense of cultural alienation, understand his ancestral roots, and find his place in the arc of history. As a child of immigrants and a queer brown person living in polarized America, Larry’s journey unpacks the complicated history of the Philippines, and its lasting impact on the Filipino diaspora.

Please join us on Wednesday, May 1 from 6:00-8:00pm for a screening and Q&A. We will host a social gathering prior to the screening on the Dean’s Lawn from 5:00-6:00pm.

Please note that all food and beverages are strictly prohibited in the auditorium. This includes bottled water. (If you need to step out of the auditorium for something to drink, please do.)
